Brett (Lascaille's Shroud / Soulmass) Pretty much anything Carl touches I'll love, and this is no exception. Black metal with a good a texture and production is a priceless combination. Favorite track: Chains Of Loss.

ClassyMusicSnob The Melodic sub genre of black metal is something I should love, however is has never grabbed me all that often. Inexorum has been one of those exceptions. I loved it so much I bought the vinyl. Everything from the riffs to the atmosphere just pulls you in. You're treated with a gorgeous melodic black metal gem that is fun and gets stuck in your head. 4/5

We knew the cost The price we had to pay Felt the loss As the moment slipped away Led to the edge To drink from poisoned wells Heedless of the harm We brought upon ourselves We fall Before abject altars The pulse of racing hearts We return To primal forms unbound Near and yet so far apart Through mirrorlands Paths laid in molten glass Doomed to repeat The present as the past We set our feet Upon this burning path With every step The cycle is recast We fall Before abject altars The pulse of racing hearts We return To primal forms unbound Near and yet so far apart Only loss awaits In this ouroboric state Ossified in grief We call to empty skies in search of peace Desperate for relief To heal the wounds that cut so deep The storming surge A fading ray of light Sanctuary Beyond the edge of sight The endless march Regression to the source With every wave, sorrow Returns in greater force We are questions without answers Viewed through the fog of sleep Recursive loops of self-consumption Along a path that time has worn so deep

Night, my sanctuary As light fades I am renewed Drawn by evening’s spell As sky fades to black from blue I left the path by eventide My steps the only sound Beneath the boughs, a moonlit way Wonders waiting to be found Oh Luna Sing to me across the waves Light my path through mysteries Where all my hope remains Heralded by evergreens Across the verdant bed To stride toward the numinous To walk where moonbeams led To be reminded of my place My own impermanence To step upon the bridge of stars And cross the firmament I felt the night upon my skin Thunder of the tide I saw the moon reflected Where sea and sky collide Oh Luna Sing to me across the waves Light my path through mysteries Where all my hope remains And as the nightjar calls The chorus of the dawn I wept in quiet gratitude For this place where I belong

Color blurs, refracted through night-rain It feels so unfamiliar, this land without a name Shadows dancing through hazy light Half-glimpsed faces just beyond my sight Unlock the door To lost structures of the mind In dream and memory Revealed for us to find Scenes recalled from long ago Revelations only the dreaming can know Unbound in lucid logic Archetypes more felt than seen Debts unpaid and choices made Upon the solemn shore of dreams Unlock the door To lost structures of the mind In dream and memory Revealed for us to find Beyond the gates of night A land unmoored from time Deep layers of awareness Knowledge, portents, signs And through these haunted halls Each moment is relived Shattered in a thousand fragments The greatest gift a mind can give In this communion This fragile state Profound awareness Enlightenment awaits As I return to wakefulness Bearing secrets only dreams can tell Carried into daylight To become a better version of myself

Where the wind sings of sorrow Where starlit sands shine like frozen tears In the shadow of a great absence My shoulders felt the weight of aching years In these moments of regret For words unsaid and deeds undone On haunted shores, I wander alone Waiting for a dawn that never comes Broken temples Monuments to grief Two covenants One to burn and one to keep In twilit fields of memories Through desolation plains A forlorn trail marked side by side With shattered chains Each link a broken promise So strange, yet so like my own To know I’m not the first to walk this path To know I’m not alone Broken temples Monuments to grief Two covenants One to burn and one to keep Step by staggered step I drag these chains of loss For every breath, a price For every love, a cost Unified in loss In miles of chains that fell away In their tears, a mirror And through the fog, escape Even in their grief They left a path for others’ sake Gratefully I mark the way For those who follow in my wake

Signal Fires 07:02
At dusk we left the shelter of our homes With pain so deep we felt it in our bones We knew it wasn’t safe to wait another day One final glance, then we had to turn away Torchlit roads Choked and lined with falling ash A desperate flight Hot winds burning at our back No destination, no place to call our own We couldn’t name the sins for which we must atone Symbols of the life we left behind Laid with reverence upon the pyre A thousand suns aglow, a new horizon line defined Stand in vigilance before our signal fires On the way we gathered others to our side Those who endured and vowed to stay alive For every one that fell, another took their place Through sheer force of will, we kept each other safe In the wild No map to mark the path All we knew We were never coming back One day we’ll find a place to call our own The road is hard but we aren’t traveling alone Symbols of the life we left behind Laid with reverence upon the pyre A thousand suns aglow, a new horizon line defined Stand in vigilance before our signal fires And though we bore our wounds with dignity Deep histories of pain We found our strength and built anew on stranger ground Primal force retained And though the way is hard And though the wounds are deep We struggle onward to our eternal sleep Upon the broken path Through agonies of grief Until the end, refuse to know defeat
6.
The burden shifts Assuming new malignant forms With every loss Another wound to be borne A growing sense A claustrophobic scene We felt the pull, falling back To the spaces in between We descend To depths hitherto unknown Beset by stabbing blades so finely honed Injuries compound By many hands restrained Every tiny cut leaves us further drained On sorrow’s spectrum A matter of degrees The breaking point It’s the hardest place to be Lost in a haze Precious time slips away Reduced to the essentials To survive another day Bear the weight With the tensile strength of steel A sad refrain How can all of this be real? Events collapse Cannot stop the bleed A rush of storming stress at such high speed Holding on for life When every door is barred A downward force that pulls so very hard On sorrow’s spectrum A matter of degrees The breaking point It’s the hardest place to be We are still burning Before the blaze, a spark There are places we can’t go alone So we’ll find each other in the dark

We count the years Lost like drops of rain We wear our masks So we can shift the blame In waning hours Defenses fall away When all is lost And nothing left to say “Next time”, we said “We’ll find a better way” Ever burning, never learning From mistakes we made We saw the truth and looked away The weight too much to bear We had our chance and let it slip Ashes cast into thin air Enshrined in sorrow Cities of glass and gold So we bear witness At the dawn of what has been foretold Hold on to any sliver Of hope that we may find The only way out is forward Because we live in desperate times We brace ourselves For pain yet to come No way to stop hat’s already begun And all that we have known And all that we have built Now laid low Who will bear the guilt? Abandon your fears They’ll only weigh you down Only we can save ourselves As the cities slowly drown At the chasm’s edge Every lifeline severed All that we have left Is to stand in strength together Enshrined in sorrow Cities of glass and gold So we bear witness At the dawn of what has been foretold Hold on to any sliver Of hope that we may find The only way out is forward Because we live in desperate times
